Jay-Z working on “The Great Gatsby” Score?

You won’t find bigger Jay-Z fans than the writers of The Audio Dope. That being said, why the hell is he working on the Baz Luhrmannscore for Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming “The Great Gatsby” film adaptation? If Jay isn’t a talented enough to do his own beats and loops on the tracks he raps over, how the hell is he supposed to create the score to a full movie!?

Honestly, this is just another sign to me that “The Great Gatsby” is going to be one of the biggest flops of 2013. It’s already a bad sign when a movie gets delayed five months (it was originally slated for a Christmas 2012 release), it’s even worse when a movie is being scored by someone who doesn’t write movie scores.

The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite novels of all-time and I can’t stand that Luhrmann is going to butcher the adaptation. The film looks too futuristic already (a common trait of Luhrmann’s), and became the 10th movie of the year to use freaking “No Church in the Wild” for trailer music. I hope I’m wrong, but it doesn’t look too good folks.
