Recap: Disney Buys Lucasfilm

Earlier this week George Lucas closed a deal with Disney to sell his movie company Lucasfilm for $4 Billion. This stunning deal was followed up with news that Disney plans to release “Star Wars Episode 7” in 2015.

Immediate Implications:

1) George Lucas no longer has creative control over Lucasfilm projects (Star Wars and Indiana Jones). While I don’t necessarily care for Disney’s decision with big-budget films as of late, I think they are capable of producing a better film than the washed up Lucas.

2) Disney stated that the next Star Wars film will feature the characters Luke, Leia, and Han Solo. “Star Wars Episode 7” should garner the most heavily covered casting process in a long time.

3) What’s good with “Indiana Jones” movies? Whatever happens, I hope Shia is not in it. He is awful…. freaking Mutt Williams.
