“Argo” is one of The Audio Dope’s top films on our “Must-see Movies of the Fall Season” list (I know, I’ve been meaning to put it up for a few weeks now… cut me some slack). Aside from the awesome story and dope cast, the main selling-point for any film-goer to check-out “Argo” would have to be Ben Affleck’s directorial efforts.
In my opinion Affleck is one of the most interesting, and wrongfully criticized celebrities in Hollywood today. When he and Matt Damon won Oscars for the “Good Will Hunting” screenplay, many characterized Affleck as the slacker who definitely rode the coattails of his fellow Bostonian actor (myself included). After watching Affleck’s directorial debut “Gone Baby Gone”, I knew this dude had a bad wrap. Not only was the film exhilarating, it was definitely one of my three favorites of 2007. After following “Gone Baby Gone” with “The Town”, Affleck has surprisingly established himself as one of the best directors in showbiz today. As a result, we can’t help but be totally psyched for Affleck’s latest directorial effort, “Argo”.
In “Argo”, as the Iranian revolution reaches a boiling point, a CIA ‘exfiltration’ specialist concocts a risky plan to free six Americans who have found shelter at the home of the Canadian ambassador. The film stars Ben Affleck, John Goodman, and Alan Arkin. “Argo” hits theaters October 12th 2012. Check out the awesome character posters below.
