Quentin Tarantino is easily one of my Top 3 favorite directors (Scorsese and Spielberg) of all time. I remember first hearing about the “Inglourious Basterds” script: the thought of Tarantino helming a WWII movie with his own little twist was too appetizing not to get pumped about. While the film was nothing like what I expected it to be (only about 2 chapters featuring The Basterds), it ended up satisfying all expectations and maybe more. One of the measures I use to judge the quality of a movie is its re-watch value. “Inglourious Basterds” gets better everytime I watch it and gives me a new favorite line after every viewing. As a result, it has definitely moved up the rankings in terms of my personal favorites. Here is one of The Audio Dope’s favorite lines from the film which had me smiling like a schoolboy on Christmas day when I walked out following the ending credits. Clearly Tarantino was making an innuendo to how he felt about his own film with the line. Don’t watch if you haven’t seen the movie and expect more “Basterds” quotes to come.
Sidenote: Brad Pitt is the f****** man as Lt. Aldo Raine. And the soundtrack to Tarantino movies are too dope. The clip below cuts off before you can hear the full song during the end credits but definitely check it out, it’s somehow perfectly cinematic.
Quote of the Day: “I think this just might be my masterpiece.”
